we’ve finally managed to get our pictures together from Megacon last weekend. we had an amazing time, especially for the first time being back after so many years. thanks to everyone that came by our tables and picked up our books and prints! we were even able to squeeze in some Disney and Universal fun after the con. we were in Orlando anyways so may as well. here are some pics from our time there. to see all of our pictures, head on over to ID Studios’ Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.278955285597332.1073741842.113793732113489&type=1&l=8de849410b and while you’re there, click LIKE and follow us!
we’re still very much overwhelmed by the generosity of folks to donate to our #sketchesforhaiyan project. we were able to donate almost $700 from just small sketches! YAYS! all of these pieces are posted up individually on our ID Studios Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.246163232209871.1073741841.113793732113489&type=1&l=c7c3b142a6
head on over there to check it out. and while you’re there, give us a LIKE if u haven’t done so already.
the last week for our #SketchesForHaiyan really got folks donating and we couldn’t be more grateful. it’s a good thing we decided to keep it going for one more week so that we were able to get more donations for sketches. running this fundraiser has been a very humbling experience to see people’s generosity and willingness to help their fellow man from across the globe.
we received $776 to draw sketches in exchange for donations. after shipping costs, together we were able to donate a total of $692.70! according to PayPal, that’s equal to 29,807.50 PHP (Philippine pesos)!! thank you all so so much for donating. it may seem like a drop in the bucket when you compare it to the amount of damage that was done in the region from Typhoon Haiyan, but every little bit helps. we are firm believers that when you work together, anything is possible.
here’s the final List of Heroes from all 3 weeks. we will be sending the final sketches by next Monday, the 16th. it should still get to everyone well before Christmas, in case you were giving them as presents. thank you for donating and spreading the word, from all of us at IDSTUDIOS! you are all heroes in our book!
if your Thanksgiving weekend was anything like ours, then half of last week was already spoken for with friends, family, and food. SO – we are extending the deadline to participate in our #SketchesForHaiyan fundraising! we wanted to get as much money to donate to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and give people the opportunity to get them. so now we will be ending this on DEC. 9TH (instead of the original Dec. 2nd). plenty of time to donate AND get a nice little sketch by theFranchize, Flash, or Peng-Peng (or all 3 if you like!)
today marks the end of another week and we have more names added to our List of Heroes! thank you so much to everyone that has participated in this. your generosity will be a huge help to the thousands of people that have lost so so much to Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. if you have already donated to another outlet that benefits the victims, we want to thank you so much for your amazing generosity especially during this season when all of our pockets are already stretched thin. if you have not, please consider donating to our efforts to raise money for the PRC. just a little bit will go very far to buy food and supplies to the victims that have nothing left. and in return, we would love to sketch you something as our way of saying THANKS! (more info on the project can be found here – https://identitycomics.wordpress.com/2013/11/18/sketchesforhaiyan/)
as promised, we have the list of those that have donated so far to our #SketchesForHaiyan project. we’re calling it the List of Heroes – those that answered the call to help thousands in need with any that they can give. thank you all so much for donating so far. we’re still taking donations for sketches this entire week so if you haven’t done so yet, please consider donating. donations will go directly to the Philippine Red Cross. (info on this project can be found here – https://identitycomics.wordpress.com/2013/11/18/sketchesforhaiyan/)
we’re considering extending through next week since half this week is Thanksgiving. plenty of time to donate if you’re still thinking about it. i know that news of Typhoon Haiyan’s devastation has died down on our tvs, as with most events that happened longer than a week ago. but it doesn’t mean that situations in the Philippines are fixed by any means. they have a long long way to rebuild and they can use all the help they can get. we encourage you to please consider donating directly to the Philippine Red Cross if you aren’t interested in getting a sketch. the sketch is just our way of saying thank you.
Our mission – to get more people to donate to disaster relief efforts for the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. As a thank you, members of ID STUDIOS will be drawing single-character pencil headsketches for every $26 donation. The $6 will go towards shipping your sketch to you. (We’re only shipping to addresses in the U.S. Sorry, we can’t ship these internationally.) The rest will be given directly to the Philippine Red Cross. Feel free to donate more than $26. If you would like more than one sketch, it’s $26 for each sketch.
If you would like to participate in our mission, please send at least $26 via PayPal as a GIFT to INFO @ IDENTITYCOMICS.COM. Sending it as a GIFT will prevent fees from being taken out. We will then donate the total amount at the end of 2 weeks directly to the Philippine Red Cross. Please provide us your name, mailing address, email address, character you’d like drawn, and your artist of choice in the MESSAGE box on PayPal. You can choose between Peng-Peng, theFranchize, or Flash to draw your sketch. You can email INFO @ IDENTITYCOMICS.COM to let us know what we can draw for you!
We’re running this sale for 2 weeks from Nov. 18th till Dec. 9th (extended from Dec. 2nd).We plan on mailing out all art starting Dec. 9th. All sketches will be drawn on 5.5×8.5” cardstock paper. At the end of each week we will post names and how many sketches they’ve requested on IdentityComics.com so that you know exactly how much donations we’ve received and exactly what we’re sending to the Philippine Red Cross. This is part of our effort to be as transparent and honest as possible.
We’re not a non-profit organization, we won’t have any forms to give you that you can use to write off your donations for tax purposes. We’re just 3 people trying to draw sketches in exchange for donations towards disaster relief. If you are uncomfortable about this, we completely understand and we highly encourage you to please give your donations directly to the Philippine Red Cross or other organizations that will help the victims of Typhoon Haiyan.
We’re asking you, our fans & friends, to please consider donating and telling others you know via social media. Please use #sketchesforhaiyan on Twitter to spread the word. Donate AND get some art all at the same time. Everyone wins!!!
Feel free to visit our online portfolios/blogs to see samples of our work.
the final issue of “Fanboys Vs Zombies” looks like it’s going to wrap up right where it all began – with the creative team! here’s the cover of the last issue #20 drawn by Jerry “theFranchize” Gaylord with colors by Gabriel Cassata. this issue is due to come out in November so don’t miss the action-packed finale! [Fanboys Vs Zombies #20 written by Shane Houghton | art by Jerry Gaylord | inks by Bryan Turner and Penelope Gaylord | published by BOOM! Studios]
we’ve also got pics up from our latest con – Pittsburgh Comic Con – on our ID STUDIOS FACEBOOK PAGE. head over there and check em out – and while you’re there give us a LIKE! here’s a collage of some of the Quickdraw sketches that we did. each ID Studio member participated in the quickdraw panel each day of the show. some were suggestions made by the crowd, some were just what we were feeling at the time, all of it was fun! ~peng
we just returned from Horseheads, NY for HERO BOT CON this past weekend. this coming weekend we’ll be headed out to PITTSBURGH COMIC CON! so many cons, so little time to update blogs. here are pics of the commissions drawn at this weekend’s convention. through an unforeseen turn of events, Flash wasn’t able to make it to Hero Bot Con so it was just Peng-Peng and theFranchize holdin’ it down. the con organizers were so great to us and we couldn’t be more grateful for the fun weekend.
if you’re in the Pittsburgh area this weekend, stop on by the PITTSBURGH COMIC CON‘s Artist Alley and say HEY to the crew! Flash, Peng-Peng, and theFranchize are all scheduled to be there this weekend and we’re excited to make the trip back to the show. ~peng
the cons are coming! they’re pretty much here! this weekend starts the last onslaught of comic cons of the year. it’s going to be fast, maybe even a little furious. i’d like to promise that i’ll keep this blog updated each week with con pics but i don’t want to disappoint. there’s only so many hours in a day unfortunately.
still, we start this weekend off with BALTIMORE COMIC CON! this is our hometown con that we’ve been attending practically every year since our little studio has formed and this year is no different. it’s this Saturday – Sunday Sept. 7-8. if you’re in the area, come on out and say HI to us in the Artist Alley! all four members [Flash, theFranchize, Peng-Peng, and Domo] will be there at tables A85-A86! we always have a blast at this show and we’re looking forward to meeting new people as well as seeing familiar faces. we’ll have NEW prints, more artbooks, and drawing commissions all weekend long. and while ur there, be sure to wish theFranchize luck and keep ur fingers & toes crossed that he wins his Harvey nomination on Saturday!
we also have our con pics from the past WV POP CULTURE CON 2 weekends ago up on our Facebook page. it was just Peng-Peng and theFranchize holding down the fort at that show but it was definitely still a fun trip. HUGE thanks to the coordinator, Jon, for having us there again this year as well as a big congratulations on his show growing! head on over to our Identity Comics Studio FB page to see the pictures!
Our 2013 WV Pop Con Album on our Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.215120788647449.1073741832.113793732113489&type=1&l=a61925ac9a
we’ll be coming to a comic con near you (most likely)! hope to see some of you there! –peng
all of us at ID Studios are gearing up for the biggest comic con that any of us have ever been to. you may have heard of it, it’s called SAN DIEGO COMIC CON! all 4 members will actually be there, but we won’t have a table at artist alley or anything. some are going for their first time, some are going to work, but all are going cuz SDCC is awesome!
couple of announcements as we ready up for the show.
firstly, Red Circle Comics’ New Crusaders: Legacy book has just hit shelves. theFranchize did some pages in there so you can go to your local comic shop and snag your copy. or you can order one online through Red Circle’s website – http://redcirclecomics.com/2013/07/10/new-crusaders-legacy-on-sale-today/
what with the BOOM/Archaia merge done before SDCC, they’ve just announced that both companies will have 1 booth on the con floor – BOOTH 2229. which means the booth will be brimming with some of the best titles outside of “the big 2.” both theFranchize AND Peng-Peng will once again be drawing on sketch covers the entire show at the BOOM booth. theFranchize will be drawing zombie-fied versions of fans of Fanboys Vs. Zombies while Peng-Peng will be on the all-ages side drawing Adventure Time sketch covers with other artists. be sure to get on the lists early because if it’s anything like what it was last year, the lines will be BA-NAY-NAYS!
also at SDCC, Bryan “Flash” Turner will sitting at the BOOM! booth to do signings of his awesome Adventure Time/Candy Capers SDCC-Exclusive covers! when he’s not signing, he’ll be running around the con so you snag your signatures on Adventure Time and FVZ books while he’s there! Signing schedule –
- Friday 7/19 from 5:30p – 6:30p
- Saturday 7/20 from 1:30p – 2:30p
- Sunday 7/21 from 2p – 3p
since the ID Studios members will not be sitting in Artist Alley and are doing sketch covers for BOOM all weekend, they won’t be able to take commissions at the show. BUT theFranchize, Flash, and Peng-Peng are all opening up their pre-con commission lists so that you can pick up your personal commissions from them while they’re at the booth. head on over to their respective blogs for more info or tweet to each of them.
PHEW! i think that’s finally all folks! we’re all so excited for San Diego and we’re trying to meet some deadlines before we leave. if anyone is heading out the con, i hope we see some of you at the BOOM booth or just around the con floor. ~peng
