theFranchize on TheHangout

after some technical difficulties shut down the live session this Monday, Jerry “theFranchize” Gaylord rejoined the ladies of The Hangout to make 1 full episode last night. The Hangout is a YouTube weekly show on the Moms Read Comics channel. The show consists of Jessica, Allison, and Karen who are sometimes joined by a creator. This week, they asked theFranchize to join them since they’re all huge fans of Fanboys Vs. Zombies. they talk about FVZ, Superman, and their comic picks for the week. have a listen – then subscribe to their channel!  ~peng

heroes con wrap up

now that we’ve been home for more than 3 days straight, we can go back to showing our social outlets some TLC. the ID Studios crew were finally all under one roof at the same time in Charlotte, NC for Heroes Comic Con! this hasn’t happened since C2E2 in Chicago, IL. except this time, we were spread out across the entire convention center. Flash was on one side of the convention manning the ID Studios booth like a champ. Domo was on the other end with his Studio Revolver mates. Peng-Peng and theFranchize were in the center at the BOOM Studios booth drawing sketches. it was certainly weird being all split up, even our fans told us it just didn’t feel right not having us all in the same spot. we tend to agree and we will avoid that same situation again in the future. we made the best of an awkward situation and had to just send some fans all across the con floor to get to all of us. sorry guys!

there were a lot of Adventure Time drawings done, and even more quick sketches for the kids who had those con passports. while at the Boom booth, Peng-Peng was interviewed by the guys of Comics Alternative about working on Adventure Time. check out the interview of her, as well as other comic creators from the con, on their podcast at http://comicsalternative.com/2013/06/13/episode-41-1/.  (her interview starts at the 39-minute mark.) GIVE IT A LISTEN!

we got to see some familiar fellow artists and met some new ones as well. specifically the lovely ladies Sara Woolley and Laura Lee Gulledge – awesome ladies with even more awesome art styles. if u don’t know about em, u should! and if u were there hangin out at the karaoke bar, then u would’ve been treated to theFranchize and Flash shuttin the place down with some Montell Jordan. fun times as usual at Heroes. (unfortunately, all of our collective cellphones were dying by the time the karaoke-ing happened so no photos. d’oh!)

here are pics from the weekend!

C2E2 and FCBD recap

is that enough acronyms for ya? 😉 we’re finally recovering from a very long trip to Chicago for C2E2 followed by an amazing Free Comic Book Day event at Third Eye Comics in Annapolis, MD. both events were great and we had a blast!

C2E2 was a much better con for us this year. TheFranchize and Flash got to be up on the center stage drawing for the people. we got to contribute pieces to the art auction that apparently raised over $10K collectively for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Peng-Peng got to sit at the Girls Drawin Girls table surrounded by an amazing collection of art by lovely ladies all around the world. and it was one of only a handful of times we were at a con with our 4th member, Domo. always great to have the whole team together. the fan responses were great and we had a great time drawing for people. here are some pics from our time there.

Free Comic Book Day at Third Eye Comics in Annapolis, MD was an incredible experience. we’ve never seen so many people lined up to get into a comic shop. they have some of the best and loyal patrons, that’s for certain. probably due to the awesomeness of the folks that run the shop. we were set up in a tent and signed lots of Fanboys Vs Zombies graphic novels and NFL Rush Zone comics. we even signed a few copies of Supurbia #1 with theFranchize and Peng-Peng’s exclusive cover for it. we were in there with the likes of Gail Simone, Joelle Jones, Cullen Bunn, and Billy Martin. we got to meet 2 out of the 3 ladies of comicosity.com’s The Hangout who apparently are huge fans of FVZ!

Awesome Con DC recap

well, what can we say? Awesome Con DC was pretty, well, awesome! we had a blast and couldn’t get enough of the love that we were shown by our fellow Washingtonians. DC has been craving for a comic con and they finally got one! for it’s 1st time out, the show was incredible. they had guests like Ernie Hudson (who doesn’t love that guy!?), Phil LaMarr, and Billy West (among others). the show seemed small at first but the attendees didn’t seem to mind because they came out in droves both days! we saw so many cosplayers and it just seemed like a fun vibe all around. Ben Penrod, the con coordinator/promoter, did a heck of a job with the show and we can only hope that he’ll be willing to have us at all of his shows here on out.

our ID Studios panel went amazingly and we met some amazing new fans. the “Hip-Hop & Comics” panel was quite serious and we learned a lot about how others see the bridge between the 2 communities (which seemed pretty seamless and inevitable). and Flash won the DOODLE! SCRIBBLE! DRAW! battle (a kids panel we weren’t originally scheduled to do but we apparently sent the best gladiator into the arena). our local fans were hungry for our art and pretty much cleaned us out of most of our stock. what more can we ask for!

because of how insanely busy we were, we really didn’t have time to take many pictures so here are the ones we did get. enjoy!  ~peng
