so New York Comic Con was almost a month ago and we’ve all been playing catch-up from the busy con season we just had. catching up on work, catching up on family times, catching up on lots of things. NYCC has always been an incredible show and this year it did not disappoint. we met some new people, saw some familiar faces, and just had a blast. New York City is tough to deal with if you’re not familiar but other than that, the show is definitely worth the trip. these are just some of the pics from our time at NYCC. the rest are on our ID Facebook page. follow the link and take a look! and if u haven’t already done so, give our page a LIKE so u can be up to date on our shenanigans!

heroes con wrap up

now that we’ve been home for more than 3 days straight, we can go back to showing our social outlets some TLC. the ID Studios crew were finally all under one roof at the same time in Charlotte, NC for Heroes Comic Con! this hasn’t happened since C2E2 in Chicago, IL. except this time, we were spread out across the entire convention center. Flash was on one side of the convention manning the ID Studios booth like a champ. Domo was on the other end with his Studio Revolver mates. Peng-Peng and theFranchize were in the center at the BOOM Studios booth drawing sketches. it was certainly weird being all split up, even our fans told us it just didn’t feel right not having us all in the same spot. we tend to agree and we will avoid that same situation again in the future. we made the best of an awkward situation and had to just send some fans all across the con floor to get to all of us. sorry guys!

there were a lot of Adventure Time drawings done, and even more quick sketches for the kids who had those con passports. while at the Boom booth, Peng-Peng was interviewed by the guys of Comics Alternative about working on Adventure Time. check out the interview of her, as well as other comic creators from the con, on their podcast at http://comicsalternative.com/2013/06/13/episode-41-1/.  (her interview starts at the 39-minute mark.) GIVE IT A LISTEN!

we got to see some familiar fellow artists and met some new ones as well. specifically the lovely ladies Sara Woolley and Laura Lee Gulledge – awesome ladies with even more awesome art styles. if u don’t know about em, u should! and if u were there hangin out at the karaoke bar, then u would’ve been treated to theFranchize and Flash shuttin the place down with some Montell Jordan. fun times as usual at Heroes. (unfortunately, all of our collective cellphones were dying by the time the karaoke-ing happened so no photos. d’oh!)

recap of Wizard World Philadelphia

well, we’re back from wizard world philadelphia only to get ready to leave again in 2 days for heroes con. no rest for the wicked! we on award tour!

Wizard World Philadelphia was fantastic for us! the space was much larger than before. some say it was a bit too large but for us behind the tables, the extra breathing room was definitely welcomed. we had lots of people come by our tables to hang out, buy prints and get commissions from us. these shows really remind us of why we do what we do. cuz we certainly wouldn’t be away from our families this often if we didn’t love doing it for the people that appreciate our art. the ID Comics Studio panel went great. folks really had some great questions and hopefully we’ve managed to inspire at least 1 person. =) on Sunday theFranchize and Flash battled at the SCRIBBLE! DOODLE! DRAW! panel. theFranchize attempted to get the title belt from Flash who currently held it from Awesome Con a couple months back but he lost his lead in the end. great talent all around the con floor. got to hang out with our buddy and super cool artist Kevin Bolk (and his crew). we even got to meet a couple of celebrities. all in all it was a successful weekend despite the fact that we missed Thursday. we tried very hard to get there though! on the road up to Philadelphia on Thursday, our car broke down. long story short, we had to get a rental car and make our way back up to the show but it was just too late.

here are pictures from our fun weekend at Wizard World!

MCCC recap

we’ve made it back from our first trip to Detroit, MI for the Motor City Comic Con. we had a great time meeting brand new people and hanging out with the Drunk On Comics guys (who are the folks to thank for having us out there this year)! we did a couple of interviews, one of which you can view here – http://youtu.be/D_jBB-4AJPg (our part starts at 5:22 of the video). thanks Danger Ink Media for coming by and chatting with us! we saw quite a few cosplayers that came to the table. and we were even lucky enough to be a part of someone’s surprise marriage proposal that unfolded right in front of our table – thanks to one of theFranchize’s fans. he asked theFranchize to draw him proposing to his lady before the show. then as they flipped thru his portfolio, she was properly confused. then he got on one knee and proposed. such an awesome and emotional moment that we were able to play a tiny part of. congrats to the happy couple!

Next up – WIZARD WORLD PHILADELPHIA! we’ll be at BOOTH 2210 and this is our first year at this show that we will also have our panel ID Studios – How to be a functioning studio which will have theFranchize and Flash talking to aspiring artists about working as a team with studiomembers. more on that next week!  ~peng

C2E2 and FCBD recap

is that enough acronyms for ya? 😉 we’re finally recovering from a very long trip to Chicago for C2E2 followed by an amazing Free Comic Book Day event at Third Eye Comics in Annapolis, MD. both events were great and we had a blast!

C2E2 was a much better con for us this year. TheFranchize and Flash got to be up on the center stage drawing for the people. we got to contribute pieces to the art auction that apparently raised over $10K collectively for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Peng-Peng got to sit at the Girls Drawin Girls table surrounded by an amazing collection of art by lovely ladies all around the world. and it was one of only a handful of times we were at a con with our 4th member, Domo. always great to have the whole team together. the fan responses were great and we had a great time drawing for people. here are some pics from our time there.

Free Comic Book Day at Third Eye Comics in Annapolis, MD was an incredible experience. we’ve never seen so many people lined up to get into a comic shop. they have some of the best and loyal patrons, that’s for certain. probably due to the awesomeness of the folks that run the shop. we were set up in a tent and signed lots of Fanboys Vs Zombies graphic novels and NFL Rush Zone comics. we even signed a few copies of Supurbia #1 with theFranchize and Peng-Peng’s exclusive cover for it. we were in there with the likes of Gail Simone, Joelle Jones, Cullen Bunn, and Billy Martin. we got to meet 2 out of the 3 ladies of comicosity.com’s The Hangout who apparently are huge fans of FVZ!
